About the event

All of us are guilty of taking pictures. That is, “I stopped my car, got out, and took a

picture with my phone or camera because it looked interesting.” These pictures may mean

something to you, but is it a photograph that engages the viewer? This presentation will focus on

how to find engaging photographs rather than just a picture from beside the road.

Good photography starts with planning photography journeys whether an hour long, a

long day, or several days long. We will examine the tools and techniques I use to plan my

journeys. After identifying some locations, we will discuss the importance of light and weather.

Assuming our research pays off, we will examine my sequence when photographing a scene. The

presentation will include resources for landscape photographers and examples from my

photography.

Hopefully, you will capture some great photos, but how do you improve? I’ll give you a

simple secret to improving your photographs. Last, we will take a look at what is in my camera

bag and another important resources that are with me when I travel.

From nature novices to seasoned photographers, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn from renowned Southern Indiana outdoor photographer Gary Morrison. Gary's passion for the region's singular landscape, combined with his decades of experience in instructional design contribute to his extraordinary work. Join us for this inspiring opportunity.
